Auditions have been scheduled for several upcoming stage productions in the region:

TERRACE PLAZA PLAYHOUSE will hold auditions on Jan. 11, from 9-11 a.m. for "The Wizard of Oz," directed by Beverly Olsen. Come prepared with 16 measures of an upbeat song. Bring your own accompanist, tape deck or CD player; no accompanist will be provided. The role of the Wicked Witch of the West/Auntie Em has been precast. All other roles are open, with parts for men and women 16-50 years of age, and children 5-12 years old. Play dates are Feb. 28-April 19. TUACAHN AMPHITHEATER has scheduled auditions Jan. 10-16 in three Utah locales for its 2003 lineup of musicals — "The King and I" and "The Wizard of Oz," running June 11-Aug. 30, and the fall production of "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," Sept. 11-Oct. 18. The directors for these shows are, respectively, Marion Bentley, Tim Threlfall and Roger Sorensen.

Tryout schedules and locations are:

Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City, on Friday, Jan. 10, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m., with callbacks 7:30-10 p.m.

Knight Magnum Building, Brigham Young University, Provo, Saturday, Jan. 11, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., followed by callbacks, 4:30-7 p.m.

Tuacahn Center for the Arts, dance studio, Ivins, 7-10 p.m., Jan. 14; 7-10 p.m., Jan. 15, and 4-6:30 p.m., Jan. 16, with children's auditions scheduled for 4-6:30 p.m., Jan. 15 only. Callbacks are Jan. 16, 7-10 p.m.

There will also be auditions in Los Angeles on Jan. 18 and Santa Maria, Calif., on Jan. 20.

For all auditions, come prepared with a two-minute contemporary monologue and two contrasting musical selections of 16 bars each. An accompanist will be provided.
