George W. Anderson, Jr., was born December 5, 1926 to George W. and Mary Ann Carrick Anderson.

He died December 22, 2002 surrounded by his family. George married Donna Sutton on June 16, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. He attended Grade and Jr. High schools in Salt Lake City. Later, he moved to Seattle WA. when he was 16 years old. During World War II, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines where he visited many parts of the world, and began his lifelong love of travel. His passions were his wife, hunting, camping, and his 44 grandchildren

George retired from the Salt Lake City Police Dept. after 25 years of dedicated service. He was also employed at the SL Airport Authority for 15 years. He worked tirelessly and selflessly to support his large family with other numerous part-time jobs.

George is survived by his wife Donna, of 54 years, seven children; Mary (Lloyd) Tanner, LeeAnn (Ray) Gibson, George III, Ruth (Rick) Steed, Cheryl (Calvin) Wendelboe, Sharron (Ted) Cowan, John (Sarella) Anderson; 26 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; two sisters, Jennie Taylor, Mary Lou Green and one brother, John Ronald Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lavern Giroux, and a granddaughter, Carolyn Tanner.

Our family would like to express many thanks to the staff of the VAMC. A special thanks to those in the MICU and the Hospice floor, for their loving care of our husband and father.

Funeral services will be held Fri. Dec. 27, 2002, 12:00 noon at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 S., where also friends may call Thurs. evening from 6-8 p.m. and from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens.
