Norma Bleak Engen, 85, Lindon, Utah passed away Friday, December 27, 2002.
Norma was the loving wife of Corey Engen for 64 years as well as a cherished mother of two, grandmother of eight, and great-grandmother of 12.
She was born Nov 11, 1917 in Salt Lake City, UT to Thomas Nelson Bleak and Annie Holmes Bleak. She grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School. She married Corey Engen Sept 10, 1938. Their life together included 52 years in McCall, ID as well as time in Huntsville and Ogden, UT before moving to Lindon from McCall in 1995.
She was a skilled secretary and bookkeeper and worked with her husband in their businesses in ski area management at Snow Basin, Brundage Mountain and with the Shell Oil Co.
Norma was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life with many callings in the Church. She served as Relief Society president three different times as well as in other auxiliaries. She was a dedicated wife and mother and her family was always her first priority. She loved music and singing. Her later years included work in family history and scrapbooks for memories of her husband Corey's years as an Olympic skier and ski area developer.
She is survived by her husband, Corey, Lindon; brother, Glen Bleak (Marjean), Salt Lake City; daughter, Carol Beus (Gary), Orem, UT; son, David Engen(Cathy), McCall, ID; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grand-children. Norma was preceded in death by her father and mother; brothers, Gerald Bleak, Howard Bleak; sister, Jean Breinholt; and grandson, Alan Beus.
At this special time we celebrate her life and the loving influence she has had and will always have with those who were fortunate to know her.
Services will be Tues. Dec 31, 2002 11 a.m. Lindon LDS First Ward Chap-el, 325 N. Canal Dr (650 E), Lindon. Friends may call at the chapel Mon. 6-8 p.m. or Tues. 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S, Sandy, UT.
