ST. GEORGE — The Spectrum, a marketing and communications company that publishes daily newspapers in St. George and Cedar City, has purchased the Pioneer Shopper from Iowa-based Lee Enterprises.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The shopper is a weekly advertising publication. Its offices will remain at 1478 S. 270 East in St. George and it will continue to be distributed free of charge in southern Utah, northern Arizona and southeastern Nevada.
The Spectrum is owned by Virginia-based Gannett Co. Inc.
Earlier this week, Lee Enterprises Inc. agreed to acquire Howard Publications, a family-owned publisher of 16 daily newspapers, for $694 million. That acquisition included papers in California, Indiana, Iowa, Idaho, Washington, South Carolina, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and New York.
