Alexander Kerr Leslie, age 89, "going on 100", died February 16, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born May 23, 1912 in Glasgow, Scotland to William and Agnes Kerr Leslie. Married Elizabeth B. Buchanan July 24 1940. Later solemnized in Salt Lake Temple. He served in the Royal Air Force for six years during World War II. He became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints in 1936 at the age of 24. He served as Branch President before immigrating to America. where he continued being a faithful and active member.
He immigrated from Scotland in 1949 with wife, Elizabeth and daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret. Sons, William and Fred were born in U.S. He managed Glaus Pastries from 1950 to 1975 when he founded his own bakery "Leslies French Pastries" at age 63 where he worked until age 83. If dad wasn't hard at work at the bakery he was working in his garden. He loved everyone regardless of age and everyone loved him.
Survived by wife, Elizabeth (Betty); children, Elizabeth R. McFarlane; Margaret (Bill) Nicholes; William A. (Kim) Leslie; Frederick B. (Kelleen) Leslie; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Willie, Australia; David, Scotland; sister, Nessie Whiteford, Scotland.
Funeral services will be held Wed. Feb 20, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Holladay 10th Ward, 4601 S. (Murray Holladay Rd) 2565 East. Friends and family may call Tuesday at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Dr from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Holladay Memorial Cemetery, 4900 Memory Lane (1990 E).
