It's part "David Letterman," part "two friends sitting in a bar having fun and making jokes." But it's all funny, and it's generated a huge following.

Leave it to the hosts of the "Ice Dream" to have a field day with Australia's first-ever Winter Games gold medal.

From the show: "You've been in the top ten for 12 years. So it was about time for a little bit of luck. All you needed was six blokes to fall over, and they did."

Roy Slaven and H.G. Nelson could be called the very unofficial humorists of the Games.

In Sydney, their show The "Dream" became a huge hit, lampooning all things Olympic with their own wombat mascot, Fatso, aand with hilarious, hushed-toned commentary.

This time around, no mascot. But they do have a valueless pin.

Their studio holds only 24 credentialed audience members, but those who get in get a rare comedy treat, whether the boys are tiny pitching Smiggin Holes as a bid city for 2010, or having fun and handing over goodies to their favorite target--the IOC.

From the show: "Now we're going to give you a couple of things because as we know, gifts and the IOC go hand in hand."

H.G. says serious topics often provide the best material. According to Nelson, "There's nothing funnier than people being deadly serious about something that is intrinsically stupid."

Generally, athletes like skeleton star Tristan Gale are the featured guests.

She said being on the show was, "Way fun. Those guys are a riot."

And H.G. says he's enjoyed the "Ice Dream" as much as the original. "An enormous time in Salt Lake City. We came not expecting anything and we weren't disappointed."

Don't expect to see the "Dream" on American tv anytime soon. It's probably too racy for major networks, but it may do well on Comedy Central.
