Dean Alden Ashby, loving husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away Monday, February 4, 2002 in Sandy, Utah.
He was born March 9, 1920 in Payson, Utah, a son of Susan Bates and Albert S. Ashby.
On June 28, 1940, Dean married his wife and best friend, Jane Nybo in Spanish Fork, Utah. They celebrated 61 years of marriage together. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 5, 1958.
Dean spent most of his life in Payson, where he chose to raise his family. He was employed at Dugway Proving Grounds, retiring at the age of 51. He then went on to establish his own business, Ashby Electric. Dean and Jane were able to travel extensively, visiting almost all of the States in American and many islands. Family get togethers brought Dean the biggest smiles. He truly loved his family.
Survivors include: his wife, Jane, of Sandy; son, Dwayne (Becky) Ashby, Riverton; daughter, Linda (Robert) Hermansen, West Valley City; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Sunderlund, Riverton; sister, Karla (Dean) Holm, Provo; sister-in-law, Phylis Ashby, Spanish Fork; brother, Larmar (Gloria) Ashby, Live Oak, California; 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Gerald; and a son, Darrell Ashby.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 7, 2002, 11 a.m. in the Payson 1st Ward Chapel, 225 South 400 East. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Wednesday, 6-8 p.m., or at the church Thursday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Payson City Cemetery.
