PLAIN CITY-<! >

R. Kent Jenkins, 79, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 3, 2002, at his home of natural causes.

He was born August 28, 1922 to Thomas Jenkins and Florence Turner. Kent was a lifelong resident of Plain City. He attended school in Plain City and graduated from Weber High School. During World War II, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Dad always felt grateful to have found and married his true love and eternal companion, Wilma Bell. They were married in San Diego, Calif. on January 24, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. They just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

Kent was a faithful and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a great love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He served diligently in many callings, including home teacher, counselor in a bishopric, high councilman, bishop, and stake patriarch. In 1988-89, he and Wilma served for 18 months in the Washington D.C. South Mission.

Kent loved Plain City and was

always involved in community service and town activities. He served many years on the town board and also as a member of the Bona Vista Water Board. He was a long time member and past president of the Plain City Lion's Club. Kent enjoyed sports and had many wonderful experiences playing on, and coaching, city and church teams.

His entire career was in the plumbing business. He loved selling. He sold for Crane Supply, Peerless Utah, and Hajoca where he also managed. Later he worked with his sons at Great Western Supply.

The love of Kent's life was his family. He and Wilma have six children, Suzanne Deakin of Ogden; Scott (Becky Bingham), Plain City; Mark (Marianne Nelson), Plain City; Glen (Marie Elm), Woods Cross; Jay (Barbara Carruth), Plain City; Lee (Bonnie Petersen), South Jordan. They have 31 grandchildren; and 12 great- grand-children. Three of their grandsons are currently serving missions. He is survived by three sisters-in-law, Rae Jenkins, Vera Jenkins, and Eleanor Jenkins.

Kent was the youngest of six children. His two sisters, Lucille Jenkins, Reta Wangsgard, and three brothers, T. Bruce Jenkins, A. Lew Jenkins, and Merrill Jenkins preceded him in death.

Kent, you left us a legacy of love, hard work, honesty and integrity.
