HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — A woman was found guilty Friday of shooting her 9-year-old daughter, cutting up the corpse and feeding it to whales in the Pacific Ocean.

Judge Alan Bonebreak rejected Karen Lee Huster's insanity defense.

Huster, 42, could get up to life in prison when she is sentenced Tuesday.

Huster's daughter, Elisabeth Anne, was last seen in 1996 at a wedding.

Huster fled the Portland suburb of Tigard a grand jury began investigating in 2000. She was on the lam for months, until the dismembered body of man was discovered inside a freezer and a refrigerator at a suburban Los Angeles apartment she had been sharing with him.
