OGDEN -<! >
Our dear mother, Joyce W. Williams, was reunited with her sweetheart and eternal companion on Wednesday, March 13, 2002.
Joyce was born March 10, 1920, in Ogden, Utah, to Hazel Blondena Sherwood and George Wells Wilson.
She married Buster T. Williams, on November 29, 1939, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Shortly after their marriage, B.T. was sent to Berlin as an Army officer at the close of World War II. Joyce gained the distinction of being on the first ship carrying dependents to Europe to join their spouses.
Following their experience overseas, Joyce and B.T. settled in Ogden to raise a family. Anyone familiar with Joyce knew that her husband was her eternal sweetheart, and her children were "the joy of my life."
She was always active in the LDS Church, serving in ward Relief Society presidencies, the stake Relief Society board, Primary president, and numerous teaching assignments. She loved teaching Gospel Doctrine. Later, she and B.T. served for over four years together as ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Joyce was extremely talented musically and instilled a love and talent for music in her children. Her creative gifts also extended to oil and tole painting and beautiful ceramics. She and B.T. also enjoyed playing tennis, square dancing and bowling. Ever grateful for her ancestry, Joyce was enthusiastic in family history work. She wrote and published in-depth volumes of her own and B.T.'s personal histories, now treasured by their children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, Michael (Joyce), Centerville; Rex (Carrie), Layton; Sheri (Richard) Burton, Fruit Heights; 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her sweetheart in 1996, and by her parents, her brother, William (Bus) Wilson, and her sister Phyllis Cassity.
The family is especially grateful to the staff and friendly residents of Apple Tree Assisted Living Center, Kaysville, where she lived for nearly two years, and also to the staff of Crestwood Care Center and Dr. Michael Woolman for their loving and compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Branch President Herb Clark officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
