Charisse Strawberry, wife of drug-troubled former New York Yankees slugger Darryl Strawberry, has joined a Tampa television news team.

Charisse Strawberry made her debut Tuesday as a special correspondent on a segment called "Today's Woman" on the all-news channel Bay News 9.

"She has a terrific presentation and she sounds great," said general manager Elliott Wiser. "The segment is about how women survive in today's world, and we wanted someone with a recognizable face."

She taped the segment before her husband was arrested on March 13 and jailed for violating probation by getting kicked out of a drug-treatment center.
