Ada was born May 13, 1908 in Wellsville, Utah to Gertrude Hansen Leishman and William McKay Leishman. She was the youngest of 12 children. When she was 10 years old the family moved to New Chicago, Montana. Her parents died before she was twenty. She married Donald Holley in the Salt Lake Temple, May 2, 1932. They lived in Salt Lake City; Las Vegas; Kelso, Seattle, and Midway, Washington; McNary, Oregon; and West Richland, Washington. During World War II she worked as a riviter for Boeing, then for Washington Poultry and Rhodes Department Store. In 1953, Don and Ada bought A & A Foods, the grocery store in West Richland, which they operated until 1969. Don said Ada was the best grocery clerk he had ever known. It was in West Richland that they built a house with a panoramic view of the Yakima River. While they had lived in many places, West Richland was their home. Ada was a fantastic cook and immaculate and creative homemaker.

Her life centered on her husband, children and church. She served in many capacities including Relief Society President in the West Seattle Ward. Don and Ada retired to serve a mission in Florida. Don died in 1976. She moved to Boise in 1983, where her son Donald cared for her for 16 years. Her last four years were spent in Salt Lake City. Her family appreciates the excellent care and companionship she found at Brighton Gardens.

She is survived by her children Nadine Adams (Jim) of Half Moon Bay, California; Donald Holley (Mar) of Boise; Karl Holley (Jean) of Salt Lake City; and Kay Conley (Rick) of Traverse City, Michigan. She cherished her 23 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Her husband, parents and eleven brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
