Joseph Rulon Olson, 64, of Orem, Utah, passed away March 28, 2002 at his home.

He was born Sept 15, 1937, in Idaho Falls, ID a son of the late Rulon Seth and Hazel Mae Jones Olson. He attend-ed schools in Rigby, ID and graduated from Roberts High School. He obtain-ed a graduate and Masters Degree from Idaho State University.

He served his community, country and church in the following capacities: a mission for two years in New England States Mission, Peace Corps, U.S. Army, worked for the U.S. Park service for 13 years in Yellowstone National Park, the Boy Scouts of America, and was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in a variety of callings including 10 1/2 years as first counselor in the bishopric of the old Indian Ward at Brigham City, UT. He was a teacher for over 30 years in Box Elder County, where he organized extra-curricular activities in gymnastics. His favorite pastime was barbershop singing, which is where he met and married his present wife, Marsha.

He is survived by his loving wife and eternal companion, Marsha J. Olson; seven children and their spouses, five stepchildren and their spouses, Kim-berley (Chris) Jensen, Emmett, ID, Sharon Olson-Smith, Woods Cross, UT, Kelle (Michael) Kropcheck, Leesville, LA, Trent and Lisa Olson, Hemlock, MI, Bradley (Ann) Olson, ID, Seth (Rosey) Olson, Brigham City, UT, Cynthia (Adam) Buck, Emmett, ID, Heather (Dan) Christensen, South Weber, UT, Tracy (Latrica) Franklin, Tooele, UT, Abby Franklin Henson, Mt. Pleasant, UT, Scott Franklin, South Weber, UT, Matthew (Jaime) Franklin, Goldsboro, NC; four brothers and three sisters, Faye (Olson) Haddon, Kenneth Olson, David Olson, Lynn Olson, Karen (Olson) Davis, Kathleen (Olson) Powell. Joe has a proud posterity which includes 30 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Dian, Heth, and Scott Olson.

Services will be Tues. April 2, 2002, 11 a.m., Hillcrest 4th Ward chapel, 440 E. 800 S, Orem, UT. Friends may call at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 N, Orem, UT Mon. 6-8 p.m. and at the Church Tues. 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial, Provo City Cemetery.
