Zuriel Ruth Jettie Elvin, 96, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep in Sandy, Utah, on Monday, April 15, 2002, joining her beloved Bert, mother and great-grand parents in her heavenly home.

Ruth was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 29, 1905, to Henry Joseph Jettie and Sarah Pamelia Haddock, the second of five children.

She grew up in a loving environment and had a happy childhood. She attended Washington Elementary, Horace Mann Junior High, Jackson Junior High and West High. She completed training as a secretary at the L.D.S. Business College and she was outstanding in her field. She used those skills early in life prior to her marriage. Later, when Bert passed away, she again was employed as a secretary by the Noall Lumber Company and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal Science Division, retiring in 1972.

Ruth first saw her sweetheart, Albert "Bert" William Elvin, at church. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on December 12, 1928. During their almost 25 years of marriage, they made their home in Copperton, West Jordan and Salt Lake City, Utah and Boise, Idaho. Two daughters completed their family, Zuriel and Berthene. They shared a special love for each other and their girls. Bert passed away on December 3, 1953, in Boise, Idaho, and Ruth returned with her daughters to live in Salt Lake City. For the past seven years she has been lovingly cared for at the home of her daughter in Sandy, Utah.
