IDAHO FALLS — A local football standout and 2002 Super Bowl athlete will be grand marshal for the city's Fourth of July parade.

St. Louis Rams wide receiver Yo Murphy, whose family still lives in town, will lead the parade.

Murphy, who graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1989, also played four years at the University of Idaho.

He puts on a football camp each summer for the region's youth and also heads up the Yo Murphy Foundation, which provides funds for disadvantaged and ill children.

Murphy is a veteran of the Canadian Football League, NFL Europe and XFL. In the National Football League, he has played for the Rams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Minnesota Vikings.

He had a key role in the Super Bowl, hauling in an 11-yard pass, which helped the Rams to go on to tie the game. His team lost when the New England Patriots scored a last-second field goal.
