Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Wayne Eugene Silcox, 94, passed away in the presence of his loving family May 7, 2002.

Wayne was born in Riverton, Utah on July 30, 1907 to Sidney Ostler and Maria Bates Nell Silcox. On July 10, 1929, he married his sweetheart, Emma Elswood, and they lived in Sandy, Utah where they raised five sons. He worked at several jobs during his lifetime. He worked for Kennecott Copper Company for 36 years and retired in 1972 at age 65. He also worked in his son's business cutting meat for four years. Wayne loved horses and enjoyed riding them. He also loved to hunt and fish. His wife Emma passed away on August 14, 1982. On Sept. 3, 1983, two of his sons, Wayne Elswood and Gary Gene, were drowned in a boating accident at Dead Man's Basin, Montana. Wayne was called as a sealing partner in the Jordan River Temple in 1985. While there he met his second sweetheart, Dora West Miller, and they were married June 14, 1986.

He is survived by his wife, Dora; sons, Royden Jay (Janet), Midvale; Brent Lynn (Judie), Helena, Mont.; Norman Dale (Kathy), South Jordan; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grand children; two daughters-in-law, Kathleen Bradford, Billings, Mont.; Marilyn Silcox, Sandy; four stepsons, James E. (Connie) Miller, Sandy; Brent A. (Mary) Miller, Draper; Craig Lee Miller, Boise, Idaho; Gordon (Lona) Miller, Sandy; 14 step-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Emma; parents; sons, Wayne and Gary; grandson, Matthew Lee Knudsen; step-daughter-in-law, Gloria Jean Miller; and step-great-granddaughter, Sheree Hart.

Funeral services Friday, May 10, at 11 a.m. at the Sandy 3rd Ward Chapel, 8825 So. 150 West. Viewings will be Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, and Friday 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church.
