Larry King, internationally known broadcaster and host of CNN's "Larry King Live," will speak at the South Davis County Library, 725 S. Main, on Friday, July 5, at 2 p.m.
Tickets to are free and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at all four branches of the Davis County Library beginning Saturday, June 29, at 10 a.m. There is a limit of two tickets per person. There are only 250 seats available.
King will discuss his most recent books, in addition to his life in broadcasting. He will be available for autographs.

Layton
A new city park will be dedicated on Saturday, June 22 in honor of the late James "Woody" Woodward, former superintendent of parks.
Woodward died after an extended illness on June 3, 2002. He helped build six Layton parks during his 29-year career with the city. He also improved the 50-acre Commons Park and created the holiday lighting display there.
The park is at 25 E. 1500 North. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. The new 11-acre park includes trails, tennis, basketball and sand volleyball courts.
Salt Lake City
The future of Library Square and downtown transportation choices are among the discussion topics at Wednesday's District 4 town meeting. Salt Lake City Councilwoman Nancy Saxton will host the public forum in Room 326 of the City-County Building, 451 S. State.
Residents of the Central City, east downtown, People's Freeway and Rio Grande neighborhoods are invited to a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. For information, call the City Council office at 535-7600.
Salt Lake County
Firefighters have two new cameras to help them fight fires.
The Burton Family Foundation has donated two thermal imaging cameras, which allow firefighters to identify hot spots in buildings and walls, as well as find possible victims within a burning building. The goal of the fire department is to have a thermal imaging camera in every station.
Sandy
The Hidden Valley Country Club Ladies Association will hold its Charity Challenge Golf Tournament and Raffle Tuesday, June 18.
The charities will benefit the House of Hope, a nonprofit organization that provides services to children and families who have been affected by substance abuse. Proceeds will go toward upgrading materials and toys for the organization and to the Hope Garden, "a place where families learn to reconnect," according to the association. Children of families who don't qualify for other funding sources will also benefit from the event.

West Valley City
Prepare to be hypnotized this year at the Westfest.
Hypnotist Bruce McDonald will take the stage June 27 at Westfest 2002, followed June 28 by the local band Colors. Admission to each event is $5 per person at the gate.
Westfest runs June 27-29, with a carnival at Granger Park, 3600 W. 3500 South, and a parade June 29, 10 a.m., from Valley Fair Mall to the park.
Music, entertainment, games, international cuisine, crafts and vendor booths will be at 5415 W. 3100 South in Centennial Park throughout the festival, which concludes June 29 with a huge fireworks show.
