Bessie Poulson Romney, 85, of Salt Lake City, died July 15, 2002, at the Heritage East- ridge Care Center.
She was born April 5, 1917 in Gridley, CA to Joseph F. and
Amber Olsen Poulsen. She grew up and attended school in CA. On Feb. 28, 1943 she married Charles Wilcken Romney in Reno, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple April 13, 1943. Charles died January 7, 1969. She worked with her husband operating a dry cleaning business and later as a housekeeper and selling Avon.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission to Roanoke, Virginia in 1980. She held many positions, including serving in the primary and Sunday school programs for many years. She enjoyed traveling, reading, writing and genealogy.
Survivors include a son, Glenn (Cindy) Romney of Sugar City, Idaho; six grandchildren; a sister Kathryn Willison, of Santa Rosa, California; brothers, Reed, Johnny, Martin and Morris of Sacramento, California; Ivan of Redding, California and Wesley of Gisborn, New Zealand. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles; a son Ronald Wilcken; a brother, Ralph and her parents.
Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Friday July 19, 2002 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary. The family will visit with friends from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
