Loreli Howells Mason, 66, of Provo, passed away peacefully July 17, 2002, at her home surrounded by loved ones.

She was born April 23, 1936, a daughter of Clyde B. and Alice Marie Hancock Howells in Ioka, Utah. She married Keith H. Mason March 17, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Loreli was diagnosed with cancer in 1998 and was an example to all even during her illness. She was always concerned for others and helped them in times of need. Loreli was an active member of the LDS Church no matter where she was, she was always spreading the gospel. She was a member of the 4-H Club, and was crowned Miss Orem in 1954. She served the church in various callings including two Stake Missions, a full time service mission in the LDS Employment Office as well as an active temple worker.

Loreli loved her children and grandchildren, and it was important to always have them around her. She also loved family outings and reunions. She enjoyed traveling and has traveled to the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Central America. She was always helping out people from foreign lands. She radiated happiness and was a friend to everyone.

Survivors include her husband Keith H. Mason of Provo; two daughters and one son, Michele (Steve) Shearer of Las Vegas, NV; Merilee (Jim) Dickey of Orem; and Mark D. Mason of San Diego; CA, five granddaughters, three step grandsons and one great-step granddaughter, her mother Alice M. Howells of St. George; one brother and one sister Chad B. Howells of Canada; Beth M. Tippetts of Riverton, UT. She was preceded in death by her father Clyde B. Howells.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 22, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in the Grandview 14th Ward Chapel, 1122 North Grand Ave., Provo. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State St. in Orem and also Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the ward chapel. Interment will be in the Eastlawn Memorial Hills Cemetery.

The family wishes to express love and gratitude to friends, doctors, IHC nurses, hospice and caregivers for their loving service.
