A Beijing motorist chose "USA 911" as a license plate number when Chinese drivers were allowed for the first time to pick their own numbers, a government spokesman said Tuesday.
The number was among more than 200 personalized plates issued Monday in the Chinese capital, said the spokesman for the Beijing Vehicle Registration Administration. He would give only his surname, Sun.
Sun wouldn't say who requested "USA 911," presumably a reference to the Sept. 11 terror attacks on New York and the Pentagon, or whether the driver gave a reason.

Other plates requested included the letters "FBI," "UFO" and "VIP," Sun said.
