The Sons of Utah Pioneers has named Louis M. Pickett of Sandy as the group's new national president for 2003. Kent V. Lott, of Riverton, is the national president-elect.
Pickett, born and raised in Gunnison, formerly worked for the Utah Department of Employment Security.
Lott, born in Twin Falls, Idaho, and raised in Hagerman, worked for Hercules and also Monsanto Chemical Co. before his retirement. He will serve as national president for 2004.

The Sons of the Utah Pioneers has more than 2,700 members in approximately 50 clubs throughout the United States. Its mission is to honor the pioneers who entered the Utah territory prior to 1869.
