Mahlon Anthony Johnson, age 83, died August 6, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah, following a brief stay in the hospital.
Mahlon was born March 13, 1919, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was the second son of Albert Leroy Johnson and Florence Gladys Anthony. Mahlon grew up in Harlem, Montana. He married Virginia Olsen on October 22, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Mahlon is survived by his wife, and their children: Stefani (Jeff) Johnson Worthen, Kevin Charles Johnson, Regina (Frank) Johnson Ellis, Glenda (Gordon) Johnson Gleave, and Lyndon Craig (Dorene) Johnson. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers: Bruce (Doris) Johnson, Neal (Madge) Johnson, Clare (Betty) Johnson and two sisters: Carol (Ralph) Spencer and Joyce (Wesley) Law. Mahlon was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Thorwald Anthony Johnson and Roger Anthony Johnson.
Mahlon was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in the Texas, El Paso Mission, serving in Mexico and the western states. He served in the Sunday School presidency, Elders Quorum presidency, and was a Seventy and a High Priest. Mahlon taught languages to students in the public school systems for 29 years in Utah and for three years in California. He also served his country during World War II in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Funeral Services will be held at the Cottonwood 10th Ward, 4930 S. Westmoor Rd. (1665 E) on Saturday, August 10th at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held Friday, August 9th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy, Utah). Friends and family may call prior to the services on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Ward. Burial will follow in the Lehi City Cemetery, 1100 North 400 East in Lehi, Utah.
