Fourteen parched pachyderms get a drink along with a shower Wednesday on the opening day of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus at the Delta Center. Below right, Mason McLaws and Nathaniel Giaugues use their heads as they provide an armrest for one of the circus clowns. The 132nd edition of the circus features dozens of clowns, aerialists and assorted daredevils, including a human cannonball. Performers include mime David Larible, "Sara the Tiger Whisperer," "T.M. the Gator Guy" and animal trainer Sylvia. A newcomer for the nine performances is ringmaster Kevin Venardos, who has appeared on the daytime TV drama "Guiding Light." Circus performances continue for the rest of this week, wrapping up on Sunday.
