Spencer Squire, 94, passed away peacefully at home August 29, 2002.

He was born in Monroe, Utah on May 29, 1908, the son of Oliver Elias Squire and Annette Dorthea Andreason. He married Alice Lovenia Cook August 31, 1937 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Spencer is survived by his children, Colleen (Max) Ashton, Kathleen (Gayle) Anderson, Donald (Susan) Squire, Paul (Sue Ann) Squire, Valerie (Bill) Freston, Lenore (Clair) Skoubye, Leslie (Sue) Squire; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Squire; sister Erma Davies; 40 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Alice Lovenia Cook and son Kenneth Squire.

Spencer spent his life teaching and volunteering in the Utah Educational System. He was honored with a service award from Governor Bangerter who declared May 27, 1988 as Grandpa Squire Day. He had a love for archaeology, geology, gardening, nature and especially his family. He donated fossil collections and Indian artifacts to numerous universities and museums.
