Vernon Eugene Ohm, 79, currently of Palm Springs, California, formerly of Highland, Utah, died Tuesday, January 7, 2003 in his home in Palm Springs.
He was born Nov 10, 1923 in Iowa, the son of Walter Theodore and Bertha Amelia Kressin Ohm. He married Colleen Johnson Oct 17, 1971 in Palm Springs, CA. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Timpanogos LDS Temple, American Fork, UT.
He graduated from high school and served in the U.S. Marines as an air craft main-tenance sergeant during both World War II and Korean War. He was employed as a salesman for mobile homes. Vernon enjoyed tinkering with wood, and fixing and repairing things. He especially liked rooting for the University of Utah while others were cheering for BYU. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by four sons, William (Marsha) Sherman, Orangeville, UT, John (Danielle) Sherman, Willitts, CA, James (Debbie) Sherman, Santa Cruz, CA, Scott (Vicky) Sherman, Concord, CA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Emma Jean (Dean) Vest, Orem, UT; and brother-in-law, Howard (Elaine) John-son, Lehi, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister, Katherine.
Graveside services, under the direction of Walker Family Mortuary, Spanish Fork, will be Wed. Jan 15, 2003, 1 p.m. Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 420 S. 400 E.
