The Community of Churches in Utah is sponsoring several events for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Jan. 18-25.
A Prayer Breakfast will be held today at 9 a.m. at .Mount Olympus Presbyterian Church, 3280 E. 3900 South. Guest speaker will be Nancy Kruse, executive director of Community of Churches in Utah, talking on "The Courage to Embrace Christian Unity in Prayer."
Following the breakfast, Rev. Chris Skidmore, associate program director of the Kentucky Council of Churches, and Rev. Carla Gilbert, chairwoman for Community of Churches and pastor at United Church of Christ Congregation in Ogden, will co-lead a workshop on Christian Unity from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Cost for the workshop is $20 and includes a box lunch.
Christian Unity events will conclude with an ecumenical worship service at Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple on Sunday at 4 p.m. with worship leaders from nine denominations.
The Most Reverend George H. Niederauer, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City, will offer the message with special music provided by Choristers of the Madeleine Choir School. All are welcome.
