Mikado downtown is closed for remodeling until Nov. 2. The Japanese restaurant, with locations in the downtown area, Cottonwood and Park City, is moving from a traditional Japanese style to a more modern Asian-fusion theme, according to Mikado owner Gene Kwan. Terrill Roe, a new general manager for the downtown and Cottonwood sites, is working on a new menu and new wine list. Roe is a chef with eight years of restaurant management experience in Utah and California.

American Dairy Queen Corp. and Dairy Queen of Utah Inc. have opened another outlet at 312 N. West State Road, American Fork, inside Valley Food & Fuel Tesoro station. The restaurant is owned and operated by Lori and Kimber Jensen of KLJ Inc. It joins more than 5,700 Dairy Queens in the United States, Canada and 20 other countries.

Goldener Hirsch Inn in Deer Valley is hosting "Four Chefs, Four Seasons 2003" on Oct. 9. Four Utah chefs each prepare a course in the dinner, which is $65 per person. Goldener Hirsch's chef Jean Louis Montecot is preparing the entree, with appetizers from Zane Holmquist of Stein Eriksen Lodge, salad from David Jones of Log Haven, and dessert from Snowbird chef Mikel Trapp. For reservations, call 1-800-252-3373 or log on at www.goldenerhirschinn.com.

Sundance has hired Cecilia Shan as manager of the resort's Tree Room Restaurant. Shan has 11 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, including jobs at the Silver Queen Hotel and Wahso restaurant, both in Park City. Shan replaces Casey Bulkley, who was promoted to Sundance's food and beverage director.
