LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Actor Gordon Jump, whom members know from several Church-produced films, died Sept. 22, 2003, in Los Angeles.

Brother Jump, 71, who is also known for his role as Arthur Carlson in "WKRP in Cincinnati," got his start in acting in the 1960s after meeting Ruth and Nathan Hale, Church members who owned a theater in Glendale, Calif. They gave him a part in a play and introduced him to the Church. He and his family joined soon after.

In 1998, Brother Jump co-hosted the first annual Pearl Awards, which honors popular music related to the Church. In addition, he was also known from 1989 until this July as the lonely Maytag repairman.
