Devoted Mother
Gloria Jean Bennett returned to her Heavenly Father from the arms of her children, at home in Salt Lake City, Utah, November 7th, 2003.
Gloria's boundless energy, passionate devotion to her family and hundreds of friends will be profoundly affected.
Born on August 29, 1942, in Santa Monica, CA, to Doris Bronson Banks, and Newel "Curly" Clark (later divorced). The young Gloria went to live on her Bronson grandparents farm. She came to treasure the time spent with Grandma Melissa who profoundly influenced her life forever.
After being raised by her mother and stepfather Bruce A. Banks, she graduated from Granger High School in 1961. She married Robert Dean Bennett on July 18, 1961 in the Logan LDS Temple. They had three wonderful children, Deb, Rob, and Rich. They were later divorced. Gloria then went on to beauty college, then to barber college, from which she launched the beauty/barber career that would serve her and her clients for over 25 years. Her professional excellence attracted many prominent clientele whom she never failed as a barber or as a friend.
A socialite at heart, but a humanitarian in reality she loved to draw people to her, preparing dinners and gatherings in her home- where all were welcome and included. Her circle of love was legendary.
For years Gloria has rounded up friends and associates, and drafted them to help them provide the necessaries for Sub for Santa, and the Homeless Shelter, through which hundreds of lives were touched and brightened by these offerings.
Never neglecting the most important elements of her life, Gloria frequently collected her family and friends together, constantly focusing on forging tight relationships of interdependence and confidence. She devoted herself endlessly to genealogical research, collection and preservation of family records, and the glorious scrapbooks that emerged from this research that mirrored the important people and events which her family, children especially, rejoiced in reviewing.
Her life provided warmth to all who encountered her.
The family would like to extend special thanks to those who cared for and assisted Gloria; your efforts and kindnesses are so much appreciated.
Gloria is survived by her three loving children, daughter, Debbi Anderson, "her princess", sons, Robbie and Richard Bennett, "her darling angels"; honorary daughter, Rose Gotberg Carrig; sister Barbara Banks; brother, Douglas (Silvia) Banks; grandsons: Brandon, Drew Anderson; honorary grandchildren: Tyler Gotberg, Amber and Austin Carrig; her uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
