- Grant Remund, age 84, Midway, Utah, died peacefully Friday, October 31, 2003 of natural causes.
He was born at home Dec 18, 1918 to Frederick Remund Jr. and Elfreda Jasperson Remund of Midway, UT. He married Iva Don Shumway, between water turns, July 23, 1941 in the St. George LDS Temple.
Grant is survived by his companion of 62 years, Iva Don; sons and daugh-ter, Paul (Gwen), Salt Lake City, Richard, Denver, CO, Roy (Martha), Midway, Harold (Vickie), Midway, RaNae (Craig Jessop), North Salt Lake; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grand-children.
Grant graduated from Wasatch High School, attended Utah State, then returned to run the family dairy farm. He helped organize the first "Harvest Days" (Swiss Days), served on the Midway Town Board, served as Midway Irrigation Board Director, and as Wasatch County Recreation Board Secretary. He served on various committees, and was president of the Federal Land Bank of Berkley (Provo District). Grant served in the bishopric and as bishop of the Midway 1st Ward. He and Iva Don served five missions for the LDS Church at Temple Visitor Centers in Hawaii and Los Angeles. He served as a temple ordinance worker for 28 years, 10 of which were as a sealer in the Provo, St. George and Timpanogos Temples. His greatest accomplishment was being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. His children and grandchildren have been touched by his great work ethic and his leadership abilities.
Funeral will be Wed. Nov 5, 2003, 12 noon Midway Stake Center, 165 N. Center St, Midway. Friends may call Tues. 6-8 p.m. Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 N. Main St, Heber City, and Wed. 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the services in the LDS Church. Interment, Midway Cemetery.
