Richard Eli Balderston passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 19, 2003 at his home.
Richard Eli Balderston was born to Mable Grace Burrows and Francis Marion Balderston on May 19, 1921 in Bountiful, Utah Married Elizabeth Cleverly July 25, 1941 in Salt Lake City. Solemnized in the Cardston LDS Temple July 11, 1963.
Survived by his wife; daughter, Peggy (Lynn) Keddington, Centerville; sons, Richard (Karren) Balderston, Bountiful; and Robert (Shari) Balderston, Great Falls, Montana; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grand children; sisters, Madeline Larsen, Salt Lake City; Francis (Joe) Larsen, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by his parents, sister, Grace Hubbard, Ruth Donley and Bertha John.
Richard grew up in Bountiful, Utah. He graduated from Davis High School in 1939 and was actively involved with the reunion committee. He attended Utah State University and worked for several years in the retail grocery business. He was employed with Nabisco as a salesman and branch manager in Great Falls, MT and Salt Lake City for over 35 years. He retired from Nabisco in 1983.
Richard was an active member of the LDS Church, and loved his Church family. His family was the joy of his life and he loved the time spent with them. Gathering the family together at the Cabin that he built in the mountains was his favorite pastime.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Stone Creek Ward Chapel, 1476 North 300 West, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call Friday evening, 6 - 8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
Richard Eli Balderston was anything but ordinary and will be missed greatly. We are all better people for knowing him. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Primary Children's Medical Center.
