He is the sunshine in our lives

Kirk Richard Englehardt passed away peacefully on November 20, 2003 of metastatic squamous cell carcinoma. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.

An exceptional husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Kirk was born on July 7, 1951 to Richard and Gloria Dee Whittaker Englehardt in Anaheim, California. He married Elaine Eliason Englehardt in 1974 in the Manti LDS Temple, and together they raised two wonderful children Richard and Kellie.

A 1969 graduate of Anaheim High School, he graduated from Brigham Young University in 1975. An astute businessman, he was President of Businessman Planning and Investment Research Incorporated for 24 years. During that time he also served as a lobbyist and spokesperson for the investment industry and testified before the U.S. Congress. He was known in the securities industry especially with Raymond James Incorporated, for his integrity, wisdom, intellect and commitment to honesty.

He had a deep testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He served with pleasure in numerous callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including a two year mission to Ohio, two bishoprics and was currently a member of the Grandview Stake High Council.

An avid surfer, skier, and runner, Kirk was a gifted athlete and loved sharing his strengths with family, friends, and ward members. He loved traveling and had visited over 30 foreign countries and 48 states with his family. Kirk will always be known for the tremendous amount of love he was able to show to everyone who was blessed enough to know him. He was a dedicated, concerned and caring friend to all.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine, children Rich and Kellie, his mother Gloria, sisters Sharon (Bliss) Tew and JoAnn Strong. He was preceded in death by his father Richard.

He had close ties with his sister and brother in laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. He will be missed by many friends co-workers and ward members.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 24 at the Grandview Stake Center at 1850 W. 1600 N., Provo, Utah. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Sunday, November 23 at Walker-Sanderson Mortuary located at 646 E. 800 N., Orem, Utah and one hour prior to service at the Church. Internment services will be held at East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery in Provo. Fox Funeral Home, Rock Springs, WY, funeral directors.
