8/2/1916 ~ 11/22/2003

Our loving mother, grandmother, and sister Afton McKean Faust passed away on November 22, 2003. She will be remembered for her independence, perfectionism and persistence.

Afton was born August 2, 1916 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Corneila A. Millicam and Franklin Lane McKean. She married Augustus F. Faust on April 30, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a very supportive wife who kept their family in order while he spent many summers abroad.

As an active member of the LDS Church, she had many callings including ward librarian and Relief Society president. Afton was also an energetic volunteer at the Family History Library for many years, where she was able to share her passion for genealogy. She was also a wonderful cook and seamstress. Afton was an avid basketball and baseball fan, and loved attending games at Derk's Field. She was a voracious reader and could converse, intelligently, on almost any subject.

She is survived by her daughters: Martha Smith, Tina (Todd Dustman), Chelsea Faust; 10 grandchildren; sister, Barbara Smoot and sisters-in-law, Eileen McKean and Ruth McKean. Preceded in death by her husband, Gus; son, Philip, one grandchild; sister, Edith Coray and brothers, Franklin L. and Thomas M. McKean.
