"Together Again"
Genevieve Rasmussen Schmidt passed away December 23, 2003.
She was born April 15, 1911 in Draper, Utah to Hans Fredrik and Anina Marie Mickelsen Rasmussen. She graduated from Jordan High School and then from the University of Utah with a teaching certificate. She filled a mission to the Eastern States mission and has been a faithful member of the LDS Church all her life. She was married in the Salt Lake Temple July 1, 1939 to Frank Bull Schmidt. All her life she has been active in community service. She taught 4-H for many years and in 1997 received the Florence Gardner Award. She was a Boy Scout leader for 20 years and spent time on the Planning and Zoning board for West Jordan City. In 1986 she was named Citizen of the Year for West Jordan.
She is survived by her six sons, Ralph and Linda, Blaine and Cherie, Douglas and Janice, Dennis and Cathy, Allan and Colleen, Kent and Jan; daughter Marion and Tom Mellenthin; 30 grandchildren; 32 great-grand-children.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Johnson and the staff of Community Nursing Services Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 29, 2003, 12:00 noon at the Garden Cove Ward, 1925 West 9000 South, West Jordan. A viewing will be held Sunday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
