- Rick Gould, age 43, died peacefully at home on November 29, surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with colon cancer.
Born to Victor Gould and Masako Gould Timothy on January 28, 1960, in Santa Barbara, CA. He graduated Skyline High School in 1978 and received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Utah in 1991. Rick served an LDS mission to Hiroshima, Japan. Rick was co-owner and instructor of Santa Monica Yoga.
He lived a life of love, compassion, and self-inquiry; and in the process created a remarkable family, and nurtured a community that in turn cared for and loved him. Rick had many talents, which he shared with others, he was an accomplished pianist and also wrote several plays.
Rick found his calling as a yoga teacher. He taught with humor and care, through the physical practice of yoga.
Rick maintained a close relationship to his ex-wife, Leslie Anderson, and along with Bruce, his loving life partner, they raised two sons, Trenton, age 20, and Daniel, age 14.
He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Gould. He is survived by his mother, Masako Gould Timothy; stepfather, OJ Timothy; life partner, Bruce Bair; sons, Trenton and Daniel Gould; their mother, Leslie Anderson Gould; and brother, Jay Gould.
A memorial service will be held at Santa Monica Yoga Studio on Sunday, December 7, 2003, at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a moment of prayer with loved ones would be appreciated.
