The Bible account of Sodom and Gomorrah says nothing against same-sex couples in a loving, committed relationship, which, in towns that size, must have existed. It instead decries unjust and loveless demands upon strangers.
Other scriptures attribute the destruction to pride, idleness, haughtiness and serving other Gods. Churches may determine for themselves whether to perform same-sex marriages, but civil benefits (including marriage to the partner of your choice) should be available to all. How ironic that homosexuals attempting to solidify and secure their unions are considered a threat to heterosexual marriages now crumbling from a 50 percent divorce rate, no-fault divorce and live-ins. Why not work to strengthen both?
