Pearl Merrill Evans, 91, passed away in her sleep Sunday, February 9, 2003. Pearl has had a long and beautiful life.

She was born on March 10, 1911 in Montpelier, Idaho, the daughter of Jedediah Grant Merrill and Marian McNeil. She was an elementary school teacher much of her life and left an indelible impression on the lives of many young people.

She married Ned Dickson and they were later divorced. She then married Smith Stevenson Evans, her sweetheart, in the Logan LDS Temple on March 31, 1947. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was also a Utah Daughter of the Pioneers.

Her favorite hobby was square dancing and was active in square dancing clubs since 1951. She also enjoyed genealogy work.

Pearl is noted for her resolve, friendliness, beautiful smile, and love for her children, cousins, nephews and nieces, grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her two sons, one daughter, step-son, brother and sister, Bartlett David Dickson and wife Leslie, Walnut Creek, CA; David Lee Evans and wife Luann, Roy; Mrs. Craig (Marian) Cook, West Valley City; Warren Evans, Seattle, WA; Reed Izatt and wife Virginia, Provo; Gladys Christian, Forest Grove, OR; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Smith Stevenson Evans, sister, Hattie Tebbs and her step-son, Bob Evans.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Granger West Stake West Building, 3300 South 4440 West, West Valley City with Bishop Duane Kendell officiating. Friends and family may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Granger West Stake West Building.
