Karen Horne and Michael Rowley have opened a new gallery, Horne Fine Art, at 142 E. 800 South. The 2,500-square-foot building offers 16-foot-high ceilings and skylights for exhibitions, as well as working studio space for Horne.

The first exhibit — beginning Friday, Feb. 21, and running through March 29 — features paintings by Horne and her mother, Phyllis Horne, a noted landscape painter. The gallery will also present exhibitions by local invited artists as well as holding the occasional lecture and workshop.

Horne, a graduate of Yale, painted in New York City until returning to Utah in 1996. Rowley, Horne's husband, has experience curating and directing galleries in New York, Santa Fe and San Francisco.
