Rex Steele of Provo, Utah passed away at his home on February 15, 2003 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's.

Rex was born August 30, 1928 in Orem, Utah the first son of three children born to Leo and Alice Bell Steele. He grew up in Orem and attended school there until his junior year in high school, then the family moved to Benjamin, Utah where Rex graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1946.

He married Dolores Mckell May 19, 1948 in the Manti Temple. Together they had five children. They later divorced. Rex then married Karen Rasmussen Lundell on September 3, 1993. Rex then moved to Provo, where they have resided since.

Rex worked at Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe for 42 years. He also worked with his father and brother Glade drilling water wells. Rex loved travel, music, walking, BYU sports, and dancing. He was a member of the LDS Church, holding the office of High Priest and serving as a home teacher in the Lakeside 8th Ward in Provo.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters Sandra (Hal) Ash of Spanish Fork, UT; Pat (Ralph) Peart of Palm Harbor, FL; sons Gary (Celeste) Steele of Benjamin, UT; Mike (Sherri) Steele of Sandy, UT; Kent Steele of Wright, WY. Step children: Frances Ann (Gary) Hume of Park City, UT; Richard (Barbara) Lundell of OH; Kevin (Jolene) Lundell of Las Vegas, NV; Gary (Leanna) Lundell Nephi, UT; Tamara (Allen) Gardner Elk Ridge, UT; Sheri (Craig) Wilson Provo, UT; one brother Glade (Rose) Steele; one brother-in-law, Don Chapman; 42 grandchildren, 26 great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Shirley Chapman.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeside 8th Ward Chapel, 151 South 1600 West Provo, UT. Family and friends may call Tuesday, February 18, 2003 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary 85 East 300 South, Provo and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Benjamin Cemetery.
