Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Kyle Hayes Brewster, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, February 5, 2003.
Kyle was born October 11, 1914 in Salt Lake City, UT to Benjamin and Ruby Hayes Brewster. He married Beth Stevenson on June 24, 1939 and had 5 children, later divorced. Married Verlean Davis Barclay Dec 26, 1969.
Kyle loved the Lord and was an active member of the LDS Church his entire life. He served in many capacities including a Swiss-German mission, was a member of the Tabernacle Choir for 23 years and served as a temple worker, also for 23 years. During World War II, he served his country by teaching navigation, instruments and meteorology in the US Air Force.
He was a loving husband and father and dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the light of his life. Kyle was always expanding his knowledge and education through study and writing.
Kyle leaves behind his sweetheart, Verlean, of 33 years, three children: Nancy Athay, Crystine (Chuck) West and Randy Brewster; stepchildren Robert Barclay, Sharane (Brett) Pincock, Scott (Verna) Barclay, Bonnie Barclay, Diane (Rick) Nielson, Kathy (Marshall) Gardner; 36 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sheldon and Hoyt; two sisters, Audrey and Lael; two children Kyle Brewster, Jr. and Stephanie Whitesides and step-daughter Linda Lemon.
The family would like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice for their loving care and help.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, February 8, 2003 at the Paradise Ward, 1555 West Lovely Road (5100 So.) in Taylorsville. A viewing will be held at 10:30 am prior to services where friends and family may call. Interment at Salt Lake City Cemetery. Arrangements by SereniCare, Funeral Directors.
