1915~2003

Matilda Evangeline Thurman Lochhead, 87, passed away quietly on March 12, 2003, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Eve, known as "Chub" by her oldest friends, was the youngest of seven children born to James Eugene Thurman and Matilda Christine Stiegemeier on July 26, 1915 in St. Louis, MO. She lived most of her life in St. Louis and University City, MO, and the last 23 years in Salt Lake City. Married Angus Tulloch Lochhead, Jr. on May 30, 1934 in Waterloo, IL, and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of 5 children, 28 grandchildren, and 56 great-grandchildren. Graduated from vocational school, worked as a model and secretary. Best remembered for her vivacious personality, quick wit, and ability to play the piano by ear. She loved best her role as mother.

Eve was preceded in death by her husband, and by her eldest daughter, Lois (M. Allen) Christiansen.

Survived by her sons, William Stewart (Pat)Lochhead of Mesa, AZ and Robert Bruce (KLynn) Lochhead of Kaysville, UT; and two daughters, Linda (Richard) Oscarson of Chesterfield, MO, and Karin (Steven) Affleck of Sandy, Utah.

Graveside services will be held Monday, March 17, 10:00 a.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 South, Sandy, where friends may call Sunday 7-9 p.m. or one hour prior to services on Monday.
