Whatever your views on war as a means of solving the problems in Iraq, the protection of the human rights of the Iraqi people does seem to be something we are all concerned with.

According to Amnesty International, however, the aftermath of a large-scale military action could cause the human rights situation in the country to deteriorate further. War has tended throughout history to increase tensions and hatred among people, leading to an increase in human rights abuse.

I would like to raise the bold idea that there are more creative solutions. The international community has been able to solve incredible problems by working together. The liberation of Iraq is something I completely support, but please — please — people, I do believe we are capable of coming up with a more creative solution.
