PROVO — After an exciting win over Springville earlier in the week, Provo looked to continue their winning ways Thursday as they hosted a doubleheader against American Fork in Provo. The two teams came into the match-up on opposite ends of the spectrum with Provo on top of Region 6, and American Fork unable to go anywhere but up. The teams ended up splittling the games.

Craig Strigham homered in the first game helping the Bulldogs to an early 4-2 lead, but the Cavemen battled back in the fifth putting four runs on the board as they cruised to a 9-5 victory. Tyson Kinyon pitched the last two innings for American fork, striking out four batters. Garrison Brems went two innings and picked up the victory.

With the win, American Fork is able to get rid of the ugly goose egg that's been staring at them since the beginning of region play.

Unfortunately for the Cavemen, the jubilation was over at the end of the first game.

Provo exploded in the fourth and fifth of the second game scoring nine runs in two innings. Stringham was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle and pitched well enough to pick up the win. Bryce Ayoso added a towering round-tripper in the sixth. Dustin Magliaccio pitched three innings, struck out a batter and only allowed one run.

Provo will take on Payson on next Tuesday.
