"6/16/17 ~ 4/12/03"
"Because I have been given much, I too must give" This phrase epitomizes our mother, the farm girl from Marshalltown, Iowa, who on June 16, 1917 was born to Clyde Ogden and Anna Head. During her childhood, mother moved often with her family eventually landing in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1935. Later in life she settled in Utah, living first in Garfield and later Magna where she resided for almost 50 years.
Mom spent her life as a giver and caretaker to all who knew her. She spent 20 years as a nurse's aide and finally a practical nurse for Dr. Conrad Knowles. She was an active member of the LDS Church and was well known for her service to others. In 1982 she accepted an 18-month calling as a genealogical extractor, an assignment she held for 21 years.
On July 6, 1940 she married Lt. Walter Daniel Ahlquist. They had three children, Clyde (Linda) Ahlquist, George (Margaret) Ahlquist, and Danielle (Ray) Nelson. Dan was killed on June 30, 1943 while serving his country during World War II.
On April 12, 1948 she married John William Dea. They had three children, Richard (Margaret) Dea, DeAnn (Bill) Turner, and Elayne (Sterling) Winters. John died May 26, 1981.
In addition to her beloved children, Dorothy was blessed with 25 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Helen (Henry) Schley, Fred Ogden, twin brother Dale (Ellen) Ogden, and Annabelle (Lester) Stump. Preceded in death by her loving parents and three brothers, Virgil, Don, and C. A. Ogden.
