Wayne Burningham, 70, of Layton and St. George, passed away April 15, 2003 at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City from
cancer.
Wayne was born May 26, 1932 in West Point, Utah, to Ralph and Emiline Louise King Burningham. He married Elaine Inglet on February 7, 1951. They were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple. Educated in Davis County schools, he graduated with his future wife from Davis High School in 1950. Wayne began his career in the automobile business as Sales Manager of
Max Bishop Ford before starting Layton Auto Sales in 1961 with his lifelong friend Pete Page.
After selling the dealership in 1983, he worked as Used Car Manager of Rick Warner Ford for seven years. Recently, he managed inventory for St. George Ford.
He was also a volunteer firefighter for 27 years with the Layton City Fire Department. Wayne had a passion for life and enjoyed skiing, camping, golfing and traveling with his many friends and family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Elaine; two daughters, Berrie (Clare)
Niederhauser, Texie (Don) Nielsen; sons, Dirk W. (Jeanie) Burningham, Trace R. Burningham; 14 grandchildren, two great-granddaughters; sisters: Bernice Thurgood, Carol (Alan) Johnston and Janet (Gary) Workman, two brothers-in-law, Melvin Leroy (Judy) Inglet and Joseph Craig Inglet. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his parents-in-law, Melvin J. and Zelda Lewis Inglet and by his brother-in-law, Lawrence Thurgood.
The Burningham family expresses their sincere gratitude to the outstanding physicians and staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and University of Utah Hospital.
The family will greet friends on Monday, April 21st from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road, Layton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, at the Valley View 2nd Ward, 1410 East Gentile Street, Layton; viewing prior to services from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
Interment at West Point Cemetery.
