ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. — Reigning 5A MVP Chad Barben allowed four hits and fanned 15 Wednesday as Taylorsville High crushed previously unbeaten and No. 1 team in the nation, La Quinta High School, 10-1, Wednesday at the Toyo Tires National Classic.
Barben and Jason Bennion homers and Dan Cornia pounded out two doubles in the victory. The Warriors led by as much as 9-0 behind Barben's gem. It was Bennion's second homer in as many days.
The Warriors finished with 15 hits.
Barben allowed his only run in the sixth, and in retaliation, he fanned the side in the seventh. He walked just one.
Barben's 15 strikeouts ties the school record for strikeouts in a game.
In San Diego Tuesday, Bingham High School lost 3-1 to Mission Bay, the second ranked team in the nation. Despite allowing just four hits and striking out 10, Bingham lefty Andy Jangard suffered the loss.
The Miners didn't get a hit.

COTTONWOOD 2, KEARNS 1: Despite six errors and only four hits, the Colts posted the Region 3 win with two runs in the first inning. Mike Burton hit a double for Cottonwood.
HUNTER 7, SKYLINE 4:Robert Sandstrom finished 3-for-4 and Chad Reeve went 2-for-2 with two RBIs to lead the Wolverines. Cody Hansen fanned nine in the complete-game victory.

MOUNTAIN CREST 9, SKY VIEW 1:Ryan Zimmerman struck out ten and picked up the complete game victory to lead the Mustangs over the Bobcats.

TIMPVIEW 11, PROVO 10: After giving up nine runs in the top of the seventh, Timpview stormed back with six of its own to snatch the Region 6 one-run win. Vince Morgan went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and scored a run to help the T-Birds to the victory. WIth two outs in the bottom of the seventh, T-Bird Taylor Barrett hit in the tying run and then scored the winning run on an error by the Bulldogs's first baseman.

SOUTH SEVIER 9, SAN JUAN 5:Logan Tsinigini went 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs for South Sevier in the victory over San Juan in the second game of their double-header.
SAN JUAN 8, SOUTH SEVIER 5:Duncan Olson went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for San Juan in the first game of a double header with South Sevier.

LEHI 2, GRAND 1: Lehi overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit on goals by Jeff Christofferson and David Clark to remain undefeated at 8-0 in Region 8 play.
DELTA 10, CARBON 2: The Rabbits devoured the Dinos with a second half explosion of seven goals. For Delta, Landon Noah and Zach Nelson each earned hat tricks in the Region 8 victory.
NORTH SANPETE 2, WASATCH ACADEMY 1:Brent Farley controlled the midfield for North Sanpete in a narrow win over Wasatch Academy.

GRANITE 1, UINTAH 1 (2OT): The Utes and the Farmers ended the Region 10 battle in a tie, as both teams failed to scored either of the two overtimes. Uintah's goals was scored by Daniel Hyde and the Granite scored was kicked by Findencio Reynaga.
JUDGE MEMORIAL 1, PARK CITY 0: The Bulldogs roughed up the Miners to get the Region 10 victory and impove their season record to 9-3 and 7-1 in region play.

ST. JOSEPH 6, MILLARD 2: St. Joseph's dominated Millard in a Region 14 matchup. Matt Ray fired in two goals in the winning effort.
JUAN DIEGO 1, ROWLAND HALL 0: A first-half goal scored by Fabian Castillo proved to be the difference as Juan Diego pushed past Rowland Hall for the second time in two days. Goal keeper Brian Durfey earned the shutout for the Soaring Eagle.
