SOFTBALL: BYU junior outfielder Oli Keohohou has been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player of the Week. This is her second weekly honor of the season and the sixth of her career.
Keohohou went 4-for-5 (.800) from the plate in three conference games last week. The Newbury Park, Calif., native, hit a home run, drove in two runs and scored four of her own.
Utah
ACADEMIC HONORS: Kaisorn Chaichana and Tyler Poulson, members of the University of Utah men's tennis team, have been honored for their outstanding academic achievement during their careers as student-athletes. The seniors will graduate with honors this spring from Utah.
Chaichana was given the Burtis Evans Award on Monday, April 21, in a ceremony at the University of Utah. The award is given to the University's top academic male athlete. Chaichana, a biology major with a pre-medical emphasis, will graduate with a 3.99 grade-point-average. He will attend John's Hopkins Medical School in the fall. He is a two-time Academic All-American. He has won the tennis team's academic award the last three seasons.
Poulson, an Academic All-American last season, will also graduate with honors. He will attend the graduate school of economics at Ohio State University this fall.
VOLLEYBALL: University of Utah women's volleyball coach Beth Launiere today announced that she has received National Letters of Intent from Carlee Kulovitz, a 6-4 middle blocker from Durango, Colo., and Michaela Maixnerova, a 6-0 outside hitter from Prague, Czech Republic.
SOFTBALL: Utah pitcher Heather Bowlin has been named Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Week.
