Wayne S. Steed, 86, died April 22, 2003, in Concord, California.

Mr. Steed was born April 8, 1917, in Clearfield, UT, son of Marion and Alice Steed. After serving as a captain in the U.S. Army for five years in the Aleutian Islands during World War II, he graduated from Utah State University. Mr. Steed married Valine Checketts in 1941, Logan, UT; later divorced. He worked as chief in the U.S. Army's Overseas Supply Agency at Fort Mason, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. Over his years working for the Army he received many commendations and awards. He lived in San Mateo, CA, San Francisco, Vernonia, OR, Rosarito, Mexico, and Hemet, CA before moving to Concord. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, reading and fishing.
Survivors include his brother, Larry Steed, Bountiful, UT; children, Alice Ann Hughes, Hillsboro, OR, John Steed, Vacaville, CA, Kevin Steed, Oakland, CA; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
