FARMINGTON — Davis County commissioners may not want to party through the night, but they will support graduates of the Class of 2003 who want to.

For the second year, the commissioners have turned over the proceeds of the annual Commissioners' Cup golf tournament to the Davis School District Foundation to help pay for high school graduation parties.

The $5,000 will be divided among the district's seven high schools and alternative high schools Mountain High and Canyon Heights. Parents and businesses also contribute to the parties.

Sheryl Allen, foundation director, said the parties help keep graduates safe on an important night by giving them something meaningful to do, including dancing and eating. "It's a big night for the pizza companies," she said.

She said the parties are attended by about 90 percent of the seniors.
