WEST VALLEY CITY — Police here are looking for the person, or people, who detonated two homemade bombs in trash cans at West Lake Junior High School on Tuesday.

Police and fire crews were called to the school, at 3400 South and 3450 West, just before 8:30 a.m., said West Valley police Capt. Craig Black. Two homemade devices, similar to dry ice bombs, exploded inside trash cans on opposite ends of the school within minutes of each other, he said.

The students were in class at the time. No one was injured, and there was no reported damage with the exception of the cans.

"There's nothing predictable about (these types of bombs). That's what makes them really dangerous," he said.
